Cataract City by Craig Davidson

Image I like this book a lot, but not in a “I can’t wait to read more of it kinds of way”. Often I did not want to read it. Because it was hard. It is a hard book to get through, and I did not want to read it at night because it often upset me. But when books upset me, I know they have good writing. Craig’s writing is gritty but it really affects you. It is a great story, showcasing a life-long friendships and the challenges we have to overcome in life.

It was short-listed for the Giller Prize, a place I think it strongly belonged.
